Procedures:
Elbow partners are the people sitting in the chair next to you.
Entering the classroom:
Walk to seat quietly. (Level 1 elbow partners only)
Take out and fill in your Agenda.
Log onto computer
Log onto current typing website
Begin typing
Looking at own monitor, staying on task, staying in seat.
Ask elbow partner/teacher for help by rasing hand.
Getting student's attention:
Teacher will raise hand in arc.
Say "Up here please."
Students will be quiet and look at teacher, ready to listen. (Level O)
Direct instruction:
Listen to instructions looking at teacher, taking notes if necessary, answering questions when called on. (Level O)
Ask teacher for help by raising hand.
Individual seat work:
Typing, working on assignment. (Level 1 elbow partners only)
Looking at own monitor, staying on task, staying in seat.
Ask elbow partner/teacher for help by raising hand.
Quizzes or tests:
(Level O)
Looking at own monitor, staying on task, staying in seat.
Ask teacher for help by raising hand.
Group work:
Looking at own or other group members computer, staying on task, staying in seat. Talking about task. (Level 2)
Presentation:
Presenter (Level 3)
Rest of class (Level O) Listen to presentation looking at presenter, taking notes if necessary, answering questions when called on.
End of class:
Sit in seat, log-off computer, clean up work area (Level O)
Leaving classroom:
When dismissed, walk out of classroom quietly. (Level 1 elbow partners only)
Using tissue:
Walk to tissue box on teacher's desk near the left front corner of the room. Quietly blow your nose. Put tissue in trash can.(Level O) No permission is needed.
Restroom and drinking water:
When a student needs to use the restroom or get a drink of water. They raise their hand with the index finger raised.
If it is OK for you to use the restroom, the teacher will either say yes or nod his head. The student then walks (Level O) to the door, grabbing the appropriate gender pass. The student has 5 minutes to come back to class. He/she will replace the pass wording side out and return to his/her seat. (Level O)
Using the restroom and getting a drink of water will not happen on a daily basis.
